Stuck In the Middle With You

Mounting a wall with a hole in it to the only entryway of the space, we change the dynamic of the “opening” event by separating the inside and outside literally and socially.

While one performer starts inside the gallery space, isolated and alone, the other performer is outside mingling with the audience. The performance is initiated when a cover version of the song “Stuck in the Middle With You” starts playing prompting the performers to approach the hole. Helping one another by awkwardly pushing and pulling each-other through it, in a moment of intense intimacy and focused collaborative effort, the two performers finally switch positions, leaving one inside and one outside the space again.
